In MLS action, three games are on the schedule ahead of a busy weekend for the league. The Philadelphia Union continues its aspirations to reach the top spot in the Eastern Conference with a meeting against 13th-seeded D.C. United. In a battle of Los Angeles, LAFC and LA Galaxy clash as two of the Western Conference’s top four teams. Meanwhile, the Vancouver Whitecaps and Minnesota United are neck-and-neck with identical records and will sort out positioning with their matchup tonight.
Philadelphia Union (-140) vs D.C. United (+275)
Since 2016, these two teams have met 15 times, and the Union has won 11 thus far. It’s the second-best record against a single club during that span and one Philadelphia hopes to continue. Their scoring has dried up as of late, going scoreless in their previous two games and reaching a draw in eight of 11 games. The last time the Union failed to record a goal in three consecutive games was in 2013.

D.C. United’s year may be unremarkable on record, but their games have been a wild ride. They snapped a six-game winless streak with a wild 5-2 win over Orlando City, scoring five goals in a road game for the first time in 22 years. Taxi Fountas put up a hat trick in the game, and he’s reached nine goals in his first ten games in the MLS. They’re up against the team that allows the least amount of offense and goals, so the best bet here is to go with Philadelphia.
Los Angeles FC (-115) vs LA Galaxy (+280)
Looking to put a disappointing 1-0 loss against the Whitecaps in their rear-view mirror, LAFC welcomes the Galaxy with a menacing 7-1-2 home record this year. Their most recent loss was just their fourth of the season, and the first time they trailed in the second half. LAFC is in a good position tonight as they’re on a 35-game scoring streak in home games, recording two goals in seven of their last eight. They’re a force to be reckoned with at home, with four players combining for 20 goals.
The Galaxy shouldn’t be overlooked, as they pose one of the bigger threats to LAFC’s home record. They have six wins in MLS play over LAFC, which is the most of any club. While they’re not as outstanding offensively as their rival city counterpart, the Galaxy are just as good defensively and are known to clog up their side of the pitch. This one may not be as clear-cut as some think, with a draw being likely. If you’re going to put money down for one side, take LAFC but expect a low-scoring affair.
Vancouver Whitecaps (-130) vs Minnesota United (+240)
The Whitecaps are in a complete turnaround after losing their first eight games. They’re 7-0-3 in their last ten games and don’t show any signs of stopping. An 89th-minute goal by Andrés Cubas stunned the LAFC faithful, earning a 1-0 victory and setting the stage for tonight’s game to determine the eighth seed in the Western Conference. Vancouver won the last meeting against Minnesota in 2021, but both teams are 3-3-3 in the previous nine games against each other.
Scoring three goals in back-to-back games, the United strung together consecutive wins and has earned victories in four games where they score at least three times. Their record tapers off when they fail to record a trio of goals, winning just once in ten games. Emanuel Reynoso picked up a pair of tallies for the second straight match, becoming the second player in club history. Minnesota enters tonight’s game as the heavy underdogs, but they have the offense to challenge a Whitecaps club that concedes the fourth-highest goals in the conference. Consider taking them to carry out a high-scoring victory.
