One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays.
If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at some players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup on FanDuel tonight, using numberFire's daily fantasy basketball projections as a guide.
Matisse Thybulle, SF, Blazers ($4,200)
While Matisse Thybulle's lack of scoring ability caps his upside, he's projecting as a quality value play on a slate where there aren't any screaming values (as of early Wednesday).
Thybulle has started five straight games for the shorthanded Portland Trail Blazers, averaging 28.8 minutes per night in that span. He's put up at least 23.6 FanDuel points in three of the five games, with spike outings of 27.6 and 35.2.
He's in a fantastic game environment tonight as the clash between the Blazers and New Orleans Pelicans sports a slate-high 232.5-point total and 1.5-point spread.
Our model has Thybulle as the night's premier point-per-dollar play, projecting him to produce 23.9 FanDuel points, which comes out to 5.68 per $1,000.
Dennis Schroder, PG/SG, Lakers ($5,900)
I wrote up Dennis Schroder yesterday, and he underwhelmed with 23.9 FanDuel points. I think we can go back to the well tonight.
The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to once again be without LeBron James and D'Angelo Russell, the latter of whom is doubtful. With those two (and Russell Westbrook) off the floor this season, Schroder owns a 25.4% usage rate and puts up 33.0 FanDuel points per 36 minutes, according to CourtIQ. He's logged 32 and 34 minutes the last two games, and we peg him to play 32 minutes tonight.
Schroder can crush in a matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder. Not only does this game have a 229.0-point total and 1.0-point spread, but OKC has surrendered the sixth-most FanDuel points per game to point guards over the last 15 games (51.7).
James Wiseman, C, Pistons ($5,800)
The move to the Detroit Pistons has been a boon thus far for James Wiseman, and he should be in for another night of big minutes with Jalen Duren and Isaiah Stewart sitting out.
Sans those two last time, Wiseman went off for 31.4 FanDuel points in 26 minutes. He's averaging roughly a FanDuel point per minute since coming to Detroit, and we have him playing 28 minutes today.
The Pistons are up against the Chicago Bulls. Nothing about the matchup stands out in terms of Chicago's defense versus bigs, but the 223.5-point total and 5.5-point spread aren't too shabby.
Our algorithm has Wiseman finishing with 28.5 FanDuel points (4.91 per $1,000), and the lone knock on him is that he's eligible at only center.
