One of the keys to finding success in daily fantasy basketball is uncovering potential value plays.
If you're looking to roster a stud player or two, you need to consider squeezing one of these lower-salaried options into your lineup.
Let's take a look at some players who can help fill in the gaps in your lineup on FanDuel tonight, using numberFire's daily fantasy basketball projections as a guide.
Gary Trent Jr., SG/SF, Toronto Raptors
FanDuel Salary: $6,000
Gary Trent Jr. is right at the cutoff for me for "value" territory after his salary has dropped substantially over the past few games.
But he's still had at least 14 shot attempts in 12 straight games and has averaged a robust 37.8 minutes and 31.2 FanDuel points in that split.
Tonight, the Toronto Raptors are without OG Anunoby, and with him off the floor, Trent Jr. holds a 21.2% usage rate, according to RotoGrinders' CourtIQ tool.
numberFire's model projects Trent Jr. for 37.2 minutes and 32.7 FanDuel points against the San Antonio Spurs' league-worst defense.
Gabe Vincent, PG/SG, Miami Heat
Caleb Martin, SF/SG, Miami Heat
Vincent's FanDuel Salary: $4,200
Martin's FanDuel Salary: $4,800
The Miami Heat, once again, have a long injury list. Namely, Kyle Lowry and Victor Oladipo are out.
With those two off the floor, Gabe Vincent has a nice 19.3% usage rate but still averages only 0.71 FanDuel points per minute, according to CourtIQ.
Those numbers for Caleb Martin are 15.6% and 0.77, respectively.
Neither of those, then, are elite per-minute outputs. However, the Heat are up against the Indiana Pacers, who are 23rd in defensive rating.
numberFire projects Vincent for 34.0 minutes and 25.8 FanDuel points, good for 6.13 FanDuel points per $1,000. That's the best value rating of the night.
Martin's numbers are 32.5, 25.3, and 5.28, respectively.
Kelly Olynyk, C/PF, Utah Jazz
FanDuel Salary: $4,900
We've seen Kelly Olynyk's minutes scale up over the past two games. After missing eight games, he returned to play fewer than 20 minutes in two matchups but has played at least 28 in the two most recent outings, games in which he put up 22.0 and 22.7 FanDuel points.
Those outputs won't blow us away. However, the salary is very reasonable for a matchup against the Minnesota Timberwolves' modest defense.
Olynyk is projected for a similar workload tonight (28.4 minutes) and is expected to rack up 26.8 FanDuel points (5.46 FanDuel points per $1,000).
In 38 games with at least 20 minutes, Olynyk has maintained a per-minute average of 0.92 FanDuel points.
Drew Eubanks, C/PF, Portland Trail Blazers
FanDuel Salary: $4,600
Drew Eubanks is probable for tonight's matchup against the Golden State Warriors, which should lead to a lot of minutes because the Portland Trail Blazers are without Jusuf Nurkic.
As a result, Eubanks is projected for 26.4 minutes and 25.1 FanDuel points.
Across nine starts this season, Eubanks has averaged 7.7 points and 6.0 boards en route to 22.0 FanDuel points per game. And in games against teams in the middle third in defensive rating, he has bumped up his per-minute efficiency to 0.85 FanDuel points.
